Take the lead in keeping our regional aquatic facilities running at their best by coordinating staff, resources and daily operations in a vibrant, community-focused environment. Working closely with the Supervisor Aquatic Facilities, you will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient and exceptional aquatic experiences while ensuring facilities remain fully compliant with industry standards and guidelines.

About the role:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Council’s Aquatic Facilities, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality services to the community.
  • Supervise and support a team of aquatic staff, fostering capability and compliance across key operational areas including public supervision, incident response, water testing and pool plant operations.
  • Provide technical expertise and operational guidance to optimise facility performance, identify improvements and maintain industry best practice standards.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, wellbeing and accountability, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, guidelines, Council policies and operational procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call roster to provide after-hours and weekend operational support, helping ensure the continued reliability and performance of aquatic facilities.

We are seeking:

  • Current Pool Operations, First Aid and Pool Lifeguard qualifications, together with a current NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements and industry standards within aquatic facilities.
  • Extensive experience in public aquatic facility operations, including pool plant operation, water quality monitoring and chemical management.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise, support and develop a high-performing team.
  • Experience in cashiering, cash handling, reconciliations and the use of point-of-sale systems.
  • Well-developed computer, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
