Play a key role in shaping the community by leading property transactions, including land acquisitions and disposals, easements, licences, compulsory acquisitions, and road closures. Working at the intersection of property, legislation, and strategic planning, you will drive innovative property solutions that maximise value for Council and deliver lasting benefits to the community.

About the role:

  • Play a key role in delivering specialised property services, providing technical, paralegal and administrative support to Council’s Property & Legal Team.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of property matters, including Council-owned residential properties, leases and licences, and statutory land acquisitions.
  • Lead the implementation of addressing functions, including house numbering and road naming, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
  • Undertake road status investigations and land classification activities to support informed decision-making and effective asset management.
  • Coordinate statutory actions and property dealings relating to roads and land, helping deliver positive outcomes for Council and the community.

We are seeking:

  • Qualifications in property, law, valuation, land economics, commerce, project management, or equivalent experience working within the property sector.
  • Demonstrated experience managing property portfolios, including leases, licences and other property-related assets within a government environment.
  • Sound knowledge of property law and legal documentation, including contracts, leases, licences, land title matters and subdivision processes.
  • Proven experience in property acquisitions and disposals, including compulsory acquisitions and the delivery of statutory property transactions.
  • Strong understanding of legislation, policies and emerging issues relevant to local government property management and land administration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to resolve complex land title issues and provide expert advice to a diverse range of audiences.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
