The Opportunity

Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated Casual Customer Service Advisor to join our team.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Delivering professional and friendly customer service across face-to-face, phone, email, web chat, and online channels
  • Responding to a broad range of customer enquiries and striving for first-contact resolution
  • Providing accurate information and guidance on Council services, applications, bookings, and processes
  • Processing payments and maintaining accurate customer and administrative records
  • Working collaboratively with teams across Council to support customer outcomes and service delivery
  • Assisting with administrative tasks and providing support across customer service functions during peak periods
  • Using multiple systems confidently and accurately to manage enquiries and requests
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the customer experience.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant practical experience in a customer service role or industry
  • Demonstrated experience in a call centre-type of role and handling diverse, complex customer enquiries in a face-to-face situation within a government or complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in office administration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to manage interactions over several different channels, including face to face, phone, email, web chat and web forms.
  • Proven adaptability to attend concurrently to several competing matters with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and independently without close supervision.
  • High-level computer proficiency with an ability to navigate multiple computer systems and to learn quickly.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to correctly collect, receipt and balance monies daily.
  • Ability to understand technical information and to communicate this information in a simple and accurate way.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, and ability to take responsibility for customer issues until they are resolved.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and dealing with difficult customers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment in a cooperative and positive manner.

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of or experience in Local Government.
  • Current NSW ‘Class C’ Driver’s Licence.
