Salary Range:

  • Base Salary: From $65,429.00 to $75,075.00 (Grade 7, Step 1 to 4) per annum
  • Plus: 12% superannuation
  • Total Package: $73,280.48 to $84,084.00 per annum dependent upon competency step appointment.

The successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within this position.

The Opportunity

Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated Finance Officer to join our team.

In this role, you will support day-to-day financial operations, including processing transactions, assisting with reconciliations, and helping with reporting and compliance. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate records and efficient financial processes while developing your skills in a supportive environment.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Processing financial transactions
  • Assisting with reconciliations and reporting
  • Supporting audits and compliance
  • Handling finance enquiries
  • Maintaining accurate records

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant experience in accounting, finance officer or accounts payable roles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Analytical skills to interpret financial data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to identify problems, recommend and implement solutions.
  • Keen attention to detail and an appropriate level of professional scepticism. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting and contributing to team goals.
  • Effective time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
