About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical & Essential Services Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of mechanical and essential services across our property portfolio.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance and services performed, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements (including hazardous materials registers) and managing the procurement of external services for planned works programs.

You will contribute to the development of OPEX and CAPEX budgets related to mechanical and essential services, as well as assist in planning and delivering capital works projects. Additionally, you will coordinate and monitor scheduled maintenance activities-including electrical, plumbing, fire services, and gutter cleaning-ensuring all tasks are completed in line with compliance and operational schedules.

Following the completion of mandatory inspections and testing, you will also be responsible for preparing the Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS), ensuring all listed items meet regulatory requirements.

A key aspect of this role will be establishing and overseeing ongoing facilities management programs, including rolling preventative maintenance initiatives to optimize asset performance and longevity. To support you in achieving these objectives, the position includes one direct report.

About You

As the Mechanical & Essential Services Coordinator, you will be responsible for effectively managing and maintaining Council's mechanical and essential services to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will work collaboratively with third-party service providers to coordinate and oversee specialized maintenance and essential service operations.

In addition, you will have:

  • Certificate III Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Certificate lll in Engineering - Mechanical Trade, or Certificate IV in Building & Construction or Diploma of Facilities Management with minimum five years' experience.
  • WHS Induction Certificate.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Experience in the areas of building services maintenance, compliance and projects.
  • Experience in investigative work necessary in diagnosing faults.
  • Proven project and contract management track record within the area of property maintenance and services.
  • Ability to work in, and as an integral part of, a small team, contributing to the team dynamic.


Your commencing annual salary will range from $81,854.82 to $94,133.04 + Superannuation dependent on your experience and qualifications.
