Employment Arrangement: 70 hours per fortnight on a 7-day rotating roster.

Salary Range:

  • Base Salary: From $65,793.00 to $72,072.00 (Grade 6, Step 1 to 4) per annum dependent upon competency step appointment.
  • Allowances: Level 2 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance & Weekend Shift Penalty rates apply.
  • Plus: 12% superannuation.

The successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within this position.

The Opportunity

Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated Cleansing Services Officer to join our team.

In this role you will help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming public environment across the municipality through street cleaning and waste management activities.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Undertaking street sweeping and general cleansing of public areas
  • Collecting, segregating, and disposing of waste in line with safety and recycling procedures
  • Operating and maintaining cleaning vehicles, plant, and equipment
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely in accordance with WHS requirements
  • Responding professionally to public enquiries and service requests
  • Identifying and reporting hazards, faults, and maintenance issues
  • Completing routine and deep cleaning of designated areas
  • Working rotating shifts including early mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed and incidents

Essential Requirements

  • General Schooling, Year 12 Standard, or specialist training in one specific subject or skill, example – completing a TAFE Certificate Levels 1 & 2
  • Current Class ‘LR’ Driver Licence
  • Demonstrated experience in driving various vehicles and plant for operation
  • Be prepared to work any shift (early start, afternoon or night), weekend overtime and public holidays from various locations as required
  • Ability to communicate to a level that enables the accurate interpretation of instructions
  • Ability to work in a team environment and individually under limited supervision
  • Possess and maintain a level of physical fitness sufficient to undertake the activities of the role
  • Demonstrated commitment to a self-directed work environment and ability to take initiative to ensure gainful and productive work for each working day
  • Ability to work in a team environment in a cooperative and positive manner
  • Certificate for General Construction Induction (CIC – White Card) NSW

Desirable

  • Experience in the use of handheld equipment, operation and driving the full range of street cleaning equipment, plant, and trucks.
