The position supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of Council’s Public Spaces Team in respect of traffic and parking management, building control, companion animal management, traffic management, littering and activities which require the approval of Council.

Permanent full time

Salary 
$77,508 to $86,819 per annum (based on 76 hours per fortnight), plus superannuation and a 9 day fortnight. Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications and experience.  The option of a leaseback vehicle is included to perform the position associated with this role.

About the role 
We are looking for an experienced person to fill the position of Team Leader Rangers Compliance. This position sits within the Ranger Services area.  The incumbent for this position must possess a thorough understanding of the Public Spaces and Unattended Property Act, & the Companion Animal Act 1998, as this position has a legal requirement to abide by the Act and the Regulations under these legislations.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing the provisions of the Local Government Act, Public Spaces and Unattended Property Act and Roads Acts as related to abandoned vehicles and articles within the Road Reserve & the Companion Animal Act 1998.
  • Ensuring that all Council business is adequately documented in all relevant systems in accordance with appropriate determinations, standards and procedures
  • Ensuring that records that adequately document business transactions and are made and kept in the Document Management System in compliance with Council’s determination, standards and procedures for record keeping
  • Information, including personal passwords for RMS DRIVES system, is maintained in a secure manner with any security breaches reported immediately to the Branch Manager
  • As necessary, enter occurrence reports (for accidents/incidents) and hazards reports into the OH&S systems in a timely manner in accordance with Council’s determination, business rules, procedures and practices
  • Assist in the review and administrating of annual fees and charges
  • Provide technical advice for abandoned vehicle matters, and other matters as directed
  • Dispose of impounded vehicles through its preferred auctioneers
  • To promote a professional and positive image of Council

Position requirements 

  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Certificate IV Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent experience
  • This position is subject to a National Police Check.

About you 
You will be a self-starter, proactive in the community, and have excellent communication and customer service skills.  You will build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and our community to achieve the desired outcomes.  Experience leading a team as well as contractors, to ensure suitable outcomes for the community is required in this role.  Experience in computer systems is essential.
