Salary Range: $67,169 - $78,061 per annum + superannuation
Are you a hands-on concrete professional who’s ready to step up or already leading a crew on site? Council is looking for a Concrete Crew Leader who knows the tools, understands the job, and can lead a small crew to deliver quality civil works safely and efficiently. This is not a desk role — you’ll be on the tools, setting the standard and working alongside your team every day.
Reporting to the Manager Urban Services & Facilities, you’ll supervise and coordinate concrete and drainage works including kerbs, gutters, footpaths, roundabouts and stormwater infrastructure. You’ll plan daily tasks, allocate labour and plant, manage traffic control and ensure jobs are completed to specification, on time and to a high standard. Your experience will guide the crew, troubleshoot site issues and keep works moving in changing conditions.
A big part of this role is leading people. You’ll mentor crew members, provide clear direction, support skill development and build a strong safety culture on site. You’ll handle timesheets, basic paperwork and reporting, take part in toolbox talks and make sure WHS requirements, Council policies and quality standards are met at all times.
If you’re a reliable operator with solid concrete and drainage experience, strong work ethic and the confidence to lead by example, this role offers stable work, varied projects and the opportunity to build your leadership career while delivering essential infrastructure for the community.
This position is located in Dunedoo, the southern gateway to the Warrumbungle Region. Dunedoo is set amongst the rolling hills and valleys surrounding the Talbragar River, with quaint shops and cafes, a classic country pub, and the majestic beauty of Dunedoo's Silo Art which is part of the Australian Silo Art Trail. Dunedoo is the perfect place for a relaxing lifestyle while still being close to major centres.
Selection criteria include:
- Demonstrated experience in concrete and drainage works, including the construction and maintenance of kerbs, gutters, footpaths and stormwater drainage.
- Proven ability to lead, coordinate and supervise a small team, including mentoring and developing staff.
- Knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety legislation, safe work practices, and quality standards.
- Competency in the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment such as backhoes and skid steers.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage resources and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with supervisors, colleagues, and the community.
- Current Class MR driver’s licence.
- WorkCover General Induction for Construction (White Card).
- Traffic Control qualifications, or ability to obtain.
It is a plus if you have previous experience in a Local Government environment, relevant trade or civil construction qualifications and experience with basic budget monitoring, purchasing and recordkeeping.
