Position Overview

The Executive Officer provides high-level strategic and operational support to the General Manager, Mayor, and Councillors to ensure the effective delivery of Council’s corporate and operational objectives. This role is central to the coordination, governance, and communication functions of the General Manager’s Office.

The position delivers a comprehensive range of executive support services, including high-level administrative and secretariat support, research and analysis, preparation of reports and correspondence, coordination of policy development, and representation of the General Manager as required. The Executive Officer is also responsible for maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Council policies, and upholding strong governance principles.

Demonstrating leadership, discretion and a positive, solutions-focused approach, the Executive Officer contributes to sound decision-making, organisational effectiveness, and the achievement of Council’s strategic priorities.

Work conditions will be in accordance with Circular Head Council Enterprise Agreement.

Candidate Profile

Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Executive Officer with a strong background in executive support, governance, and organisational coordination. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to supporting senior leadership and elected officials.

  • Qualifications in Business, Governance, Public Administration, Management, or equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and build effective working relationships with executives, Councillors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of governance principles, legislative compliance, and confidentiality requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of high-quality reports, correspondence, and briefing materials.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will earn an attractive salary of $77,218 to $82,428 PLUS super and a range of benefits including:
