Position Overview
- Manage Council’s fixed asset and plant and equipment accounting functions.
- Support financial reporting, budgeting, and long-term asset management planning.
- Demonstrate strong corporate accountability by complying with all legislative requirements, Council policies and procedures.
The Asset Accountant is a key role within Circular Head Council’s Corporate Finance Team, responsible for the effective management and reporting of Council’s fixed asset and plant accounting functions. The position ensures that all assets are accurately recorded, valued, and maintained in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards, Council policies, and contemporary asset management practices.
Working closely with Corporate Services and Asset Services teams, the Asset Accountant maintains the integrity of the Fixed Asset Register, manages asset transactions including acquisitions, disposals, revaluations, and depreciation, and provides timely and accurate reporting on plant and asset performance. The role also supports capital expenditure budgeting, long-term asset management planning, and provides high-quality advice to management and staff to support informed decision-making across Council.
Work conditions will be in accordance with Circular Head Council Enterprise Agreement.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in Asset Accounting. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary level qualifications in Business, Governance, Finance or Management or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a senior asset accounting or senior finance role.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

You will be passionate about supporting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, and your technical expertise in asset and financial management will contribute to the achievement of Council’s operational and strategic objectives in alignment with Council’s vision.
