Position Type
Temporary Part time – (35 Hours per fortnight) - up to 2 years job share role.
Salary
$1,490 - $1,670 per fortnight (based on 35 hours per fortnight), plus superannuation. Week 1 is 14 hours and week 2 is 21 hours – please see attached roster. Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications and experience.

About the role
The position is responsible to the Customer Services Co-ordinator. It is a professional position that relies heavily on teamwork and requires that work be prioritised according to customer need. Tasks must be undertaken in a timely manner. The Customer Services Librarian position has the following major components:
- Information and customer services
- Supervision
- Maintenance of collections and facilities
- Staff and customer training
- Support of library services and programs
Position requirements
- Degree or post graduate qualification in Library and Information Science or equivalent, accepted by the Australian Library and Information Association for professional membership.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality customer service in a high-volume environment
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated organisational skills
- Strong team leadership skills including the ability to supervise and train staff
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of collection development
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to provide technology support and knowledge of online resources and applications
About you
The Customer Services Librarian position requires an enthusiastic, customer focused professional with good interpersonal and communication skills. Completion of a degree in information science or its equivalent accepted by the Australian Library and Information Association for professional membership is an essential qualification for the position. The ability to work independently and as a member of a team is critical to the success of this role, as is accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to meet agreed deadlines. The Customer Services Librarian is primarily based at Hornsby Library and may be required to work in other branch libraries. A Current Working with Children’s Check number is required.
