The role

We are currently seeking a skilled and collaborative Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Business Partnering Team. This role plays a crucial part in supporting strategic financial outcomes by providing expert financial guidance, analysis, and support to business units across the organisation.

Through a business partnering model, you will assist in the coordination of internal financial reporting functions, including budget development, forecasting, financial performance analysis, and stakeholder engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams to help drive better financial outcomes.

What you'll bring 

As a Finance Business Partner, you will:

  • Support the development of Council’s annual and forward budgets, including Fees & Charges schedules.

  • Lead and assist with monthly and quarterly budget reviews, revenue recognition, and funding reconciliations.

  • Maintain key financial tools such as the Employee Costs Budget worksheet and assist with the annual budget re-vote process.

  • Provide financial insights, performance reporting, and training to improve financial literacy and decision-making across departments.

Essential Requirements 

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience in budgeting, financial reconciliations, and analysing/reporting on budget variances.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis, with experience in TechnologyOne and ExcelOne highly regarded.

Salary: Commencing salary package circa $85,960 p.a. plus superannuation. 

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
