About the Role
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of some of the City's fastest-growing areas. You'll lead major projects that deliver innovative urban design solutions and drive the implementation of forward-thinking, high-quality programs.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Leading urban design services that deliver Council master plans, public domain enhancements, planning proposals, and other Council projects
- Coordinating place-based projects from across Council's strategies, plans, and projects.
- Developing urban design-related policies, controls, and guidelines, including updates to Council's Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan
- Preparing built form models of key precincts in the City of Ryde to inform Council's strategic direction, stakeholder engagement, and future projects
- Preparing reports and presentations for Council, Committees, and City of Ryde's Executive Leadership team
- Preparing urban design advice and submissions for internal and external stakeholders
- Manage and mentor staff in a team of urban designers, planners, and architects
About You
You have a proven ability to deliver creative and sustainable urban design solutions that respond to the evolving needs of communities. Your experience shows a deep understanding of city shaping, with a focus on collaboration, innovation and long-term impact. You work effectively in team settings, bring strategic thinking to every stage of a project, and are confident navigating complex, multidisciplinary challenges to deliver high-quality outcomes.
In addition, you will also have:
- Degree in Architecture and Urban Design or a similar discipline
- Current Class C NSW Drivers Licence
- Knowledge and understanding of strategic planning processes in NSW
- Demonstrated senior experience in providing urban design advice and modelling of major city scale projects and places
- Demonstrated senior experience in preparing urban design-based built form modelling, controls and guidelines
- Ability to influence a multi-disciplinary team to drive design excellence
- Ability to mentor a small team
Your commencing annual salary will range from $110,713.46 to $137,073.81 + Superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
