Employment Status: Permanent, full-time
Employment Arrangement:35 hours per week with access to Council’s Agile Work Policy.
Salary Range: Commencing from $55,455.40 (Grade 3, step 1) plus 11.5% superannuation
Council Overview
Strathfield Council is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.
About the Role
The purpose of the role is to assist in construction and maintenance of Council’s Road infrastructure including roads, footpaths, and drainage.
The Civil Works team is focused on maintaining the community’s roads, drainage, footpaths, and other associated infrastructure. The Civil Works team aims to provide the best and sustainable services to Strathfield ratepayers.

About You
- School certificate or equivalent.
- Experience in concreting and general labouring including form work, concrete finishing, paving, road works, asphalting and drainage works.
- Be physically able to carry out labouring work.
- Be committed to applying multi-skilling in the workplace.
- Effective communication skills both orally and written.
- Hold a valid MR driver licence.
- Hold a certificate for General Induction for construction – CIC (White Card) work in NSW.
- Hold Traffic control tickets Traffic Controller (Blue Card)
- Hold Implement Traffic Control Plans (Yellow Card)
- Demonstrated experience working with WHS requirements.
- Experience in line marking and sign installation. (Desirable)
- Experience in operation of Backhoe, Skid Steer and Roller. (Desirable)
- First Aid certificate. (Desirable)
