Salary Range Grade 10 (ranging between $71,325.80 - $81,881.80 per annum, dependent upon experience) plus 11.5% Superannuation

Council Overview

Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.

About the Role

Strathfield Council has a great opportunity for a Legal Officer to join our Legal department on a permanent, full-time basis.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Officer will assist with a range of litigation and advice work. This position would be required to assist in legal research, legal drafting, court attendances, contract review and providing advice to Council. This would suit someone who is looking to grow their legal career, with professional development opportunities available.

About You

  • Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) from a recognised Australian tertiary education provider.
  • Admitted to practice law in New South Wales.
  • Holder of a current Australian Practising Certificate or capable of holding an Australian Practising Certificate.
  • Experience in local government (desirable).
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas of law: commercial/contract, property, administrative, planning and environment and local government law (desirable).
