Are you an experienced mechanic who enjoys solving complex problems and working on a diverse range of equipment?
We're looking for two skilled Plant & Fleet Mechanics to join our Fleet Services team, with one position based in Wellington and one position based in Dubbo. These roles offer the best of both worlds, combining workshop-based maintenance with field service work across Council's extensive fleet of heavy vehicles, plant and specialised equipment.
You'll apply your diagnostic expertise to identify faults, perform complex repairs and keep essential Council assets operating safely and efficiently. Whether you're in the workshop, supporting field operations or responding to critical breakdowns, your expertise will play a key role in keeping our communities moving.
These positions are ideal for trade-qualified mechanics who enjoy variety, value quality workmanship and take pride in finding solutions where others see problems.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Carrying out diagnosis and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Working autonomously across various locations
- Effectively communicating with different levels of the organisation
- Fostering good teamwork and high staff morale within the team, including supervision of apprentices
- Ensuring high-quality standards of workmanship
- What you'll bring
- To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Cert III Qualification and licence in Motor Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or Plant Mechanics
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Demonstrated trade experience in repairs and diagnosis for a variety of equipment and the subsequent work required
- Basic computer skills
We would also love you to have:
- Experience with computer diagnostic equipment
- Motor Vehicle Repairers Licence
- Current RMS Motor and Heavy Vehicle Inspection Authority
- Fork Lift Licence, air conditioning installers licence or welding experience
- Class HR Driving Licence

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $80,310 to $93,333
