As an Asset Maintenance Officer, you'll put your broad maintenance skills to work across some of the region's most valued community and outdoor spaces. From carpentry and fencing to landscaping, paving, painting and irrigation repairs, you'll tackle a diverse range of hands-on projects that keep parks, playgrounds and public facilities safe, functional and looking their best.

This newly created role offers the opportunity to take ownership, apply your trade and maintenance expertise across multiple disciplines, and help shape how asset maintenance is delivered within our Recreation & Greenspaces team. If you're someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in quality workmanship and likes solving practical problems, you'll find plenty of opportunities to grow your skills and make your mark.

Working full-time (38 hours per week) on a 9-day fortnight, you’ll enjoy a great balance between work and lifestyle while contributing to the spaces that bring our community together.

You'll find growth through:

  • Maintaining and repairing playgrounds, park infrastructure, fencing, shelters, outdoor furniture and other community assets to ensure they remain safe, functional and welcoming.

  • Working across teams and locations to support maintenance and improvement projects throughout the Dubbo and Wellington communities.

  • Identifying hazards, managing risks and responding to maintenance issues to help create safe and enjoyable community spaces.

  • Giving back to the community through quality workmanship, creating safe, welcoming and well-maintained spaces that residents and visitors can enjoy every day.

  • Through your collaborative approach working alongside a supportive and knowledgeable team, combining your skills and experience to deliver high-quality outcomes and achieve divisional goals.

  • Monitor asset condition and record data in Council systems, including completing playground inspection reports and maintenance records.

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery, Asset Maintenance, or a related discipline

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance and repair activities, including areas such as carpentry, fencing, landscaping, painting, paving, irrigation, plumbing repairs or minor concreting.

  • Experience maintaining community infrastructure, outdoor furniture, small buildings or similar public assets

  • Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and delivering excellent outcomes for the community.

  • Administrative and computer skills, including experience using digital systems to record inspections, maintenance activities and asset information

We would also love you to have:

  • Experience maintaining playgrounds and knowledge of relevant Australian Standards

  • Experience in minor plumbing repairs and/or roofing maintenance.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $70,498 to $81,930
