About Council
West Arnhem Regional Council delivers services across five communities and more than 100 outstations, spanning 50,000 km2 of spectacular outback landscape at the very top of the Northern Territory's Top End. The five communities - Jabiru, Gunbalanya, Maningrida, Warruwi and Minjilang - sit across a diverse landscape of salt and freshwater country, rugged stone escarpments, and the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park.
The Position
This role combines strategic corporate leadership with meaningful community engagement. You will ensure strong financial management, governance and compliance while working closely with staff and stakeholders across West Arnhem to support sustainable outcomes for Council and the communities it serves. Reporting directly to the CEO you will lead Council's corporate services portfolio, including finance, ICT, procurement, grants and administration. As a member of the Executive Team, you will provide strategic advice, drive continuous improvement and ensure the systems, resources and governance frameworks are in place to support Council's objectives.
About You
You hold tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, finance or a related discipline, supported by extensive senior leadership experience in corporate services, finance, governance, or local government. You are an experienced senior leader with a strong background in finance, governance and corporate services. You have successfully led teams across areas such as finance, ICT, procurement, grants and administration, and can provide practical advice to executives, Councillors and key stakeholders.
Experience working in remote, regional or Indigenous communities will be highly regarded.
You will bring
- Degree-qualified in Accounting, Business or a related field, with substantial senior financial leadership experience and CA/CPA credentials
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent Council in a variety of forums displaying a high level of professionalism
- Recognised expertise in financial management, reporting, governance and risk, supported by a strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislative frameworks
- Strong understanding of ICT, information management and contemporary business systems that support effective service delivery

Remuneration Package up to $199,500 this includes:
- Base salary of $175,000
