About the role:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Economy and Business service, with accountability for service performance, governance, budget, people and delivery outcomes
- Translate Council priorities and economic strategy into practical, measurable programs, projects, policy inputs and service improvements.
- Lead initiatives that encourage sustainable economic development, support local businesses, and create vibrant, place-based outcomes across the Tweed.
- Oversee a diverse service including business support programs, investment attraction, CBD activation, events and filming governance, and commercial assets, leases, and contracts.
- Provide commercial stewardship across the service portfolio, balancing performance, revenue, compliance, risk and community outcomes.
- Represent Council and influence regional economy and business priorities by building trusted partnerships across government, industry and the community

We are seeking:
- Tertiary qualifications in business, economics, planning, commerce or a related discipline, with significant senior experience in a comparable role.
- A proven leader who can translate economic strategy into practical outcomes across complex, multi-faceted environments.
- Experience delivering place-based, precinct or business development initiatives that strengthen economic growth, activation and connectivity.
- Strong financial and commercial capability, including ownership of service budgets and forecasting, business case development, and securing and governing grant-funded initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial assets, leases, contracts and negotiations, balancing performance, risk and compliance.
- Sound judgement in governance and compliance environments, ideally with experience in events and/or filming approvals and risk-based decision making.
- An influential communicator and relationship builder, capable of preparing high-level reports and partnering effectively across industry, government and community.
