The opportunity
Shape how infrastructure assets are planned, maintained and invested in for the long term and make a real difference to the Wollongong Community now and into the future.
As the Infrastructure Assets Planning Coordinator, you will lead a specialised team responsible for asset planning, maintenance programs, and lifecycle management across a diverse infrastructure portfolio.
You'll work closely with internal delivery teams, senior leaders, and key external stakeholders to align asset priorities with organisational objectives and community needs.

This role places you at the centre of strategic planning and operational insight-balancing priorities, managing change, and supporting your team to perform at their best.
This position is permanent full time, 35 hours per week. Salary from $125,236 to $138,992 per annum, plus super. A 3.5% Civil Liability allowance may also apply. An operational Motor Vehicle under lease back arrangements. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)
A minimum increase of 3.25% to the salary from 1 July 2026 in accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement.
How you'll make a
In this role, you will:
- Lead and coordinate infrastructure asset planning and maintenance programs across the organisation
- Lead, guide and support a multidisciplinary team to deliver priorities and meet agreed objectives
- Develop and implement asset lifecycle plans that inform funding, risk, and service decisions
- Use asset data, condition information, and analysis to drive evidence‑based outcomes
- Manage priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and delivery
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to balance competing needs and achieve shared outcomes
- Embed continuous improvement, safety, and values‑led leadership into everyday work
About you
You're an experienced asset management professional with a background in infrastructure planning or maintenance programs, and you're comfortable working across both strategic and operational priorities.
You hold a degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or a tertiary qualification in a relevant field combined with substantial, directly related experience. You bring sound technical judgement and a practical understanding of how asset planning decisions translate into real‑world outcomes.
You have experience leading teams and supporting people to perform effectively, remain focused, and respond well to change. You approach work in an organised, considered way, are comfortable making decisions, and can balance competing priorities without losing sight of detail or outcomes.
You communicate clearly, work well with a variety of stakeholders, and take a collaborative, values‑led approach to leadership. You care about safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and enjoy contributing to work that makes a genuine difference for the organisation and the community.
