This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished and forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation.

Reporting to the Director Corporate, the CFO leads a diverse finance function—including financial partnering and analytics, financial reporting and control, rates management and transaction services—to support sound governance, strong financial performance and informed decision‑making across the organisation.

This is a critical leadership role that partners closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Mayor and Councillors to deliver financial strategies that support infrastructure investment, service delivery and a growing community.

Your responsibilities will include:

·      Providing strategic financial leadership to ensure long-term financial sustainability and robust governance

·      Leading annual budget development, quarterly reviews and long-term financial planning

·      Delivering high-quality financial advice, reporting and analysis to the Executive Leadership Team and Council

·      Overseeing financial statements, statutory reporting, audit processes and financial compliance

·      Driving continuous improvement in financial systems, controls and governance frameworks

·      Leading financial partnering across the organisation to support evidence-based decision-making and cost effectiveness

·      Managing key financial functions including rates and revenue management, investments, payroll and accounts payable

·      Developing and mentoring a high-performing finance team, fostering collaboration, accountability and innovation

About you

·      Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or a related discipline, with professional membership (CA or CPA)

·      Extensive senior financial leadership experience including financial planning, budgeting and reporting

·      A strong understanding of local government finance, including funding sources, asset valuation and capitalisation, grants and rate structures

·      Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams

·      Strong commercial judgement and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments

·      Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear strategic advice

·      A reputation for integrity, professionalism and sound financial governance

·      Experience leading finance transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
