The Opportunity
Be part of a highly collaborative Transport Team, who work across road safety, transport planning, and transport services to support safer, more accessible travel for everyone. You'll play a key role in delivering behaviour‑focused road safety programs at a local level.
Working closely with internal teams, community groups, schools, businesses, state and local government partners, you'll help turn data and insights into practical actions that reduce road trauma and improve everyday travel experiences.
This is a hands‑on, community‑facing role that balances time in the office with time out in the field. You'll be trusted to work with a high level of autonomy, supported by a knowledgeable, committed team and a strong network.
This is a grant funded, fixed term contract position until 30 June 2029 with the possibility of extension subject to confirmation from the funding body. Salary from $88,389 to $116,251, plus superannuation. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications) The role involves regular community outreach and site visits, occasional evening or weekend work, and requires physical capability to undertake field‑based activities. A current Class C Driver Licence is essential.
How you'll make a difference
In this role, you'll contribute to safer roads by turning strategy into action. You will also:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Council's Local Road Safety Plan, aligned with State and Federal road safety priorities
- Deliver behaviour change and road safety education programs to a wide range of community groups, including schools, older drivers, and vulnerable road users
- Analyse road safety and transport data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for targeted interventions
- Manage small‑to‑medium road safety projects, including planning, procurement, delivery, and evaluation
- Collaborate with Transport for NSW, other councils, internal teams, and community stakeholders to deliver funded initiatives
- Prepare reports, submissions, and communications that clearly explain complex information to diverse audiences
- Promote road safety awareness across Council and the community in line with the Transport for NSW Safe Systems Approach
About you
You're a motivated and organised professional who enjoys engaging with people and seeing your work make a real‑world impact. You bring:
- A Degree or tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Behavioural Sciences, Education, Health Promotion, Public Policy, Marketing and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of road safety principles and are confident building capability through learning and collaboration.
- Your communication skills stand out - you're comfortable presenting information clearly, engaging with diverse audiences, and working effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, you can manage multiple priorities and have experience working with data to inform decisions and planning.
- You're self‑driven, and able to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
