About the role

The Team Leader Cemeteries and Asset Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the construction and maintenance of Council's assets, with a primary focus on cemetery operations. This role involves leading a small team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery while managing budgets and compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

As a leader in our organisation, you will play a crucial role in managing staff performance, coordinating resources and fostering a respectful work environment that acknowledges the emotional aspects of cemetery operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and coordinating cemetery operations and asset maintenance, ensuring efficient use of staff, resources and equipment.
  • Overseeing plant and equipment care, including maintenance, repairs and security of Council assets.
  • Managing budgets, schedules and performance, providing accurate documentation and cost reviews.
  • Performing hands-on tasks, including operating plant for burial preparation and undertaking physical labour when required.

About you

Our ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge, leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills. You should be committed to maintaining high standards of quality and safety while effectively managing a diverse team.

You will have;

  • A Certificate III in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in cemetery operations and civil works
  • Strong communication skills for effective liaison with various stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively

 What we offer

  • A permanent full-time role (38 hours per week) with opportunity for 9-day fortnight
  • Salary range: $67,943 - $75,015 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Adverse Working Conditions Allowance (Level 1) of $19.49 per week in accordance with the applicable award
  • 12% superannuation.
