The City Planning branch at Blue Mountains City Council has the exciting and challenging responsibility to deliver high quality strategic land use planning for a City within a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty and value. We have over twenty-five towns and villages, each with a distinct local character and community, that together with our position on the edge of Sydney and within a World Heritage Area, gives rise to strategic planning opportunities truly not offered anywhere else.
A part-time position for a strategic planner is available within the City Planning branch. This position is open to those just establishing their careers, as well as people with experience in associated fields or disciplines looking to transfer into strategic planning.
Specific action areas for the position include the preparation of precinct plans for key locations, the development of land use planning strategies and plans for the Blue Mountains Local Government Area, and the monitoring and updating of Council’s local planning framework. This also includes working with, influencing, and guiding groups within Council and external agencies to achieve Council's strategic planning objectives.
Enjoy working in this special place, for this special place, with a team of passionate and creative professionals, where values of environmental leadership, strong urban design and responsible community engagement inform all levels of planning in the branch.
