About the roles:
Senior Engineer - Capital Works JG9
- Take charge of delivering Council’s $30M+ annual capital works program for water and wastewater infrastructure. This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced engineer passionate about delivering critical projects that support the health, growth and sustainability of the Tweed community.
Senior Engineer Development JG9
- Play a key role in shaping the future of Tweed’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Ensure development aligns with Council’s strategic objectives, while representing the asset owner in planning, approvals and regulatory matters.
Senior Engineer - Water and Wastewater Design JG9
- This senior technical role will lead the planning and design of complex new infrastructure projects, resolve high-level engineering challenges and provide expert guidance to shape Council’s approach to safe and sustainable water and wastewater services.
Engineer Design and Projects JG8
- Lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects through design, approvals and contract preparation. Provide expert support through construction and commissioning to ensure successful outcomes.
What's on offer:
- An attractive base salary depending upon skills, knowledge and experience. The Job Grade will be determined by the panel as follows:
- Job Grade 9 (Senior Engineer - Water and Wastewater Design, Senior Engineer Development, Senior Engineer - Capital Works): a base salary ranging from $133,822 per annum with performance-based increments up to $148,699 per annum, plus 12% super
- Job Grade 8 (Engineer Design and Projects): a base salary ranging from $119,030 per annum with performance-based increments up to $132,348 per annum, plus 12% super
- Additional benefit of a fully maintained leaseback vehicle available for both work and personal use (employee contribution applies)
- 70 hour, 9 day fortnight

We are seeking:
- A degree-qualified Civil Engineer, eligible for NPER and membership with Engineers Australia
- Demonstrated expertise in water and sewerage design within a local government context.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and developing technical staff in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of relevant NSW water and sewerage legislation, regulations and infrastructure planning requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, resolve conflict and prepare high-quality written reports and correspondence.
- Strong financial management skills, including capital works budgeting, cost estimation and program forecasting.
- Proven experience in project and program management, particularly in delivering major water and sewerage infrastructure projects across all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Proficiency in civil engineering software relevant to water and wastewater design and project delivery.
- Current vehicle licence - car, with the flexibility to travel for project coordination and site inspections.
