POSITION VACANT | HUMAN RESOURCE TRAINEE

The local Council, Weddin Shire, is seeking applications from applicants with an interest in Human Resources. The trainee will gain experience across Councils Human Resource functions.

The position is part of the Office of Local Government Fresh Start program.

Key Responsibilities

Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to:

  • Complete relevant Certificate in Human Resources.
  • Undertake human resources administrative tasks, including maintaining electronic personal files, and processing documentation.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection processes.
  • Assist and support employees and managers with general human resource enquiries, tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assist and support in the development of work, health and safety documentation.
  • Assist with payroll administration and processing.
  • Assist in safety inspections and audits as directed by the WHS Officer.
  • Undertake ad hoc project research and analysis of data to contribute to achievement of Human Resource initiatives.

Essential requirements

  • Higher School Certificate or nearing completion of or equivalent.
  • NSW Provisional or full drivers licence.
  • A proactive approach to learning and a desire to grow within the Human Resources field, including Work, Health and Safety and Payroll processing.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage with people at all levels.
  • A team-oriented attitude and the ability to collaborate with others to achieve goals.
  • A high level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office), with the ability to learn HR software and tools quickly.

Condition of employment

  • Trainee rate of pay in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
  • Satisfactory health assessment, drug and alcohol screening, police and working with children check is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
  • Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award and Council’s salary structure.
