The Role:
Reporting directly to the Compliance Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing compliance services, including programs and projects, in accordance with statutory obligations and Council policies to meet the needs of Council and the community.
As a Compliance Officer, you will conduct monitoring activities, investigate breaches, erect site notices, issue compliance notices, and engage with the community to promote awareness of regulations. You will also be responsible for preparing evidence, reports, and documentation to support enforcement actions, including representing Council in legal proceedings when required.
You will require strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. If you are detail-oriented, community-focused, and passionate about upholding local laws, we encourage you to apply.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will be a detail-oriented and community-focused professional with strong investigative and compliance skills. You will have experience in interpreting legislation and regulation, and the ability to make informed, evidence-based decisions.
You will have well-developed communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills – allowing you to educate the community, manage difficult situations, and ensure fair and consistent enforcement of regulations. Your ability to investigate breaches, collect evidence, and prepare clear and accurate reports will be essential to this role. Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the capacity to work both independently and within a team will be highly valued.
A certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or an equivalent qualification combined with experience in compliance activities. You will also need a current driver’s licence and commitment to maintaining this, a current Working with Vulnerable People Registration and satisfactory National Police Check.

As per the Glamorgan Spring Bay (GSBC) Enterprise Agreement, GSBC currently contributes 6.5% superannuation in addition to the legislated minimum superannuation contribution of 12%. This additional 6.5% can be taken as salary.
