Camden Council is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Natural Resource Projects Officer to lead and support initiatives that preserve biodiversity and promote sustainable land management across our vibrant local government area.
About the Role
As a Natural Resource Projects Officer, you will play a key role in managing natural resources under Council's care. You'll provide expert advice, conduct ecological assessments, lead restoration projects, and foster partnerships with community stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and evaluation of natural resource management (NRM) projects and externally funded programs.
- Conduct environmental audits and site inspections to guide planning and conservation.
- Provide expert advice on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and environmental legislation.
- Coordinate contractors and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Develop and deliver education and training initiatives for staff and community members.
- Build collaborative relationships with government, Aboriginal communities, and landholders.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Tertiary Qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience in Natural Resource Management/ Environmental Science/ Environmental Management/ Environmental Planning.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in natural resource management and the legislative framework.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering effective natural resource management projects including project management, financial administration and budget control, contracts and contractor management, service and access agreements, evaluation and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and providing expert advice particularly relevant to development applications and review of environmental factors.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining effective partnerships for delivery of natural resource management outcomes.
- Ability to write analytical and logical reports drawing justified conclusions.
- Highly developed time management skills and the ability to manage high workloads.
Desirable:
- Experience working in local government.
- Experience delivering natural resource management/bushland restoration and revegetation projects in Greater Western Sydney.
- Experience with asset management software and GIS applications.
