Employment Status Permanent, full-time.
Employment Arrangement 35 hours per week with access to Council’s Agile Work Policy.
Salary Range Commencing from $97,333.60 (Grade 18, Step 1) plus 11.5% Superannuation. The successful candidate will have access to step increases based on competency assessment and tenure within the position. 

Council Overview

Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.

About the Role

The role will lead Council’s procurement function by developing and maintaining robust strategic procurement processes and plans and delivering upon day-to-day operations.

Additionally, this role will see the successful candidate critically analyse procurement processes and to prepare reports and advice on business improvements.

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Business, Law, Public Administration, Procurement & Contracting.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an equivalent or similar position.
  • Knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act and Office of Local Government Tendering Guidelines for NSW Local Government.
  • Experience in anticipating future trends, risks, and opportunities in the procurement landscape.
  • Experience in providing people leadership and development for team member.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading procurement transformation initiatives, including digital system implementation and process improvement.
  • Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
