THE POSITION:

Are you mechanically minded and passionate to kick start your career in the automotive/ heavy vehicle industry? Do you have the drive to improve yourself and skills as you learn off some of skilled and highly experienced motor mechanics in the industry? Council is planning to participate in the Government’s A fresh Start for Local Government Apprentices, Trainees and Cadets program. We are seeking those who have an interest in completing an apprentice to obtain a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology whilst gaining on the job experience

ESSENTIAL:

  • Must have full Australian working rights to be considered for this position
  • Committed to complete a full time 4-year apprenticeship, including practical studies
  • Minimum completion of Year 10 (ROSA certificate/transcript)
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to follow instruction
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping and following instructions.
  • Committed, reliable, punctual with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Love working hands-on and comfortable to undertake manual labour
  • Class C Driver's Licence (P1) or ability to obtain

DESIRABLE:

  • A strong interest in mechanics.
  • MR/HR Licence desirable but not required.

ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP

  • This apprenticeship is part of the Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical delivered through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study. The course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to become a qualified sign writer and pursue a successful career in the industry.
  • Salary for this position as per the Local Government (State) Award 2023 Band 1 rates of pay
