THE POSITION:
Fairfield City Council maintains its own fleet of light and heavy vehicles. We are offering you a career opportunity to join our team who are charged with the responsibility of servicing and repairing Councils’ fleet of vehicles. You will apply your mechanical diagnostic and repair skills to complete day to day servicing and repair of Councils’ fleet, respond to emergency breakdowns and ensure a high standard of workmanship. Your experience repairing passenger and heavy vehicles with minimum downtime in a fast-paced environment will be essential in this role.
Ideally you will have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar leadership position and hold relevant heavy diesel mechanic qualifications. However, Council will consider a candidate with light vehicle qualifications and can offer extensive training and career development opportunities if you are seeking to increase your qualifications.
ESSENTIAL:
· Relevant Trade Certificate (motor, plant, or heavy vehicle mechanic)
· Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Council Licence
· WHS General Induction Work Cover (White Card)
· Drivers Licence Class minimum MR or HR or willingness to obtain.
· Experience in servicing plant or heavy vehicle mechanic.
· Experience leading a workshop.
· Experience diagnosing faults and repairs on heavy vehicles.
· Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
DESIRABLE:
· First Aid
· Authorised Inspection Scheme examiner
· Post trade certificate in automotive field e.g. Electrical, Hydraulic, Electronic Diesel Management (EDM)
· Welding and panel work
· Confined Space
· Working at Heights
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Permanent full-time position, 76 hours per fortnight with a Rostered Day Off (RDO)
- This position is a Grade F, salary range is $77,106 p.a. with progression to $83,038 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $90,318 p.a, plus 11.5% superannuation.
- Other allowances are payable subject to the Local Government (State) Award 2023
