The Coordinator Weeds Compliance will lead the development and implementation of operational programs, for the management of priority and environmental weeds in accordance with Council policies and strategies, and in accordance with the Biosecurity Act. The role will lead a dedicated team to improve the environmental condition of the City of Blue Mountains by participating in strategic weed control planning and conducting regulatory inspections of private land and land managed by other government agencies. Implement communication strategy and innovative monitoring of effective and sustainable weed management practices. Represent the service and Council with internal and external stakeholders, agencies and networks to negotiate actions to achieve biosecurity outcomes.
The successful candidate will have a TAFE Certificate IV in Bush Regeneration/Land Management or an equivelant, current Chemcert or SmartTrain chemical user accreditation AQF 3 or 4 and a current Class C drivers licence. A minimum 5 years experience in bushland / ecosystem management at a supervisory level, including applied bush regeneration experience. Sound knowledge of priority/invasive weed and native plant identification and best practice weed management strategies. Experience in project management, procurement, contractor and budget management. The Coordinator Weeds Compliance must have sound time management skills, experience in the use of and maintenance of herbicide application equipment, competent computing and GIS skills, record keeping, sound communication and negotiation skills and a commitment to excellent customer service standards.
Remuneration: base salary commencing at $93,634 gross per annum
+ adverse working conditions of $1,035 gross per annum
+ 11.5% superannuation
+ performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary
+ annual award increase
