Remuneration Range: Grade 7 $63,554.40 - $72,854.60 per annum, dependent upon experience, plus 11.5 % Superannuation.
Council Overview
Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.
About the Role
Strathfield Council is seeking a Graduate Landscape Architect to assist the development of landscape architectural drawings for Council’s public parks and reserves for stages including concept design, detail design, through to final construction documentation.
This role works collaboratively within Council’s multidisciplinary team to achieve balanced design outcomes which factor visual aesthetics, technical considerations, and environmental, social, and economic integrity. Gaining valuable learning and growth opportunities as an emerging landscape architect within a friendly, cooperative work environment.
In order to undertake the role, it requires the following duties:
- Prepare landscape architectural plans of a high standard for works within Council’s public parks and reserves at various levels including concept design, detailed design, and final construction.
- Communicate effectively and cooperatively across Council’s multidisciplinary team to achieve and deliver outstanding design outcomes for the community.
- Attend meetings, both online and in-person, and both internally with Council staff and externally with consultants.

About You
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in landscape architecture OR in final year with completion date in 2024 (Graduation ceremony in 2025 is acceptable).
- Demonstrated good understanding of technical standards and design principles.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles in Architecture, with a commitment to achieve environmental, socially and economically sustainable outcomes.
- Demonstrated good communication skills, both in verbal and graphics.
- Proven creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- High level of computer literacy skills and ability to use professional design software applications, particularly in Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, SketchUp, AutoCAD.
- High level interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with people at all levels.
- Effective time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Current NSW Class C Driver’s License.
- Current WHS General Induction Certificate (White Card) (Desirable)
